Hoshruba the Digital Dastan: Visualizing an Oral Tradition

Description

This capstone project proposes a solution for the preservation of the Dastan, an invaluable part of our intangible cultural heritage (ICH), through the use of emerging technologies. The preservation of ICH is quite challenging due to its non-physical nature, therefore, little research has been conducted regarding its preservation within the Indian Subcontinent. This capstone examines research regarding technologies that have been employed for access and analysis of ICH in order to highlight how these technologies can contribute to their transmission and safeguarding. It proposes a solution that explores the use of interactive visual narratives, centred around the concept of play, in order to elicit a deeper connection and understanding of the oral narrative tradition of the Dastan.
